I was honored to visit His Eminence, the Grand Mufti of the Lebanese Republic, Sheikh Abdel-Latif Derian. I briefed His Eminence on the conditions of the people of Beirut and the suffering they are enduring from the water and electricity crisis and living conditions. I affirmed our full support for his Islamic and national positions, especially the most recent ones, foremost among them his visit to Syria.
I stressed that Mufti Derian constitutes a safety valve for Lebanon and for all Lebanese, and that he acts with wisdom and a unifying national responsibility, particularly in this delicate stage the country is going through.
